Property Taxes - Let’s talk Turkey.

Let’s talk Turkey.
Property taxes are increasing not only in the US. For instance, in Turkey property tax rates for residential buildings have been increased by 9.8 percent, according to a joint decree released jointly by the Finance Ministry and the Public Works Ministry.
Property tax rates for residential buildings are based on a scale of costs calculated per square meter. Similar increases are reported in non-residential building also.

What’s happening to the billions of dollars that we’ve recently given Turkey? Apparently it went into different pockets and never reached the taxpaying citizenship.

Similar to our country in that when ever good financial times or a chance to help the taxpayer showers us, our local and federal government stiffs us. They manage to hire more people and expands its footprint on our lives. Couple that with increased pay over and above that of the private sector, lavish pensions, healthcare, paid holiday perks … and Voila … nothing gets back into the pocket of the besieged taxpayer.

By the early 1960s, Jersey was one of only two states without a sales or an income tax. In March 1970: Republican Governor and republican legislature increase sales tax to 5% promising it was only temporarily measure to balance the books. It was soon to be brought back to the 4% lower rate. Guess what? It’s 7% now! Are we stupid or what rapacious thing is going on?
